MOKE has been a long time coming. Sounds that slowly came together, until it felt right, now finally released on RESONICA Records.
The track was born in Ibiza, at Can Jay - a place 2M fell in love with. A place where they feel comfortable, grounded, and free enough to let creativity express in the most honest way. This old finca, hidden in the middle of nowhere, carries a rare energy. It allows complete isolation, space to disconnect, and time to fully dive into music, together.
The name comes from a long-running joke. Morgan has always wanted to rent a Moke on the island - a small, open-top, doorless vehicle many people associate with Ibiza - completely unreliable. Because renting one often means risking a breakdown somewhere in the middle of nowhere. That feeling became the core of the track: being on a Moke during the off-season, a light rain falling, nowhere to go - stuck at the studio. And fully embracing it.
MOKE came together naturally. The process was fast, intuitive, and instinctive. Through Jay, 2M discovered Sir E.U + Tooth Choir’s cassette “Bop 3”. The track “Hey Mom” immediately resonated, the lyrics felt perfectly aligned with the mood. After reaching out, Sir E.U’s vocals became part of the track, and everything fell into place.
Tools: The track was shaped almost entirely through vintage hardware: A TR-909, Roland SH-101, Roland JX-3P, Yamaha DX7, and a Virus Access Polar were used to create the warmth and character that define the track.
Now, with the release finally here, the emotion is strong. So many things aligned naturally. MOKE reflects exactly what 2M loves: the creative life at Can Jay during the off-season, calm, isolation, freedom, and imperfection.
This one is a special one for us.
This is MOKE. Everything they like.
